For the last decade I have been a church musician. I play guitar at our church and I’m always thankful to God for giving me this ministry. I do this ministry out of love for the Lord and I enjoy doing it. So, I do it for free. I don’t get paid.
Then, recently while watching YouTube, I came across a vlog that talks about paid church musicians. I understand that you deserve a pay when you give a certain kind of service, but I was surprised to know that there are musicians who can’t settle in a local church because they are not paid well.
In my music ministry background, we are trained to be servants at church, not employees. I’m not saying that it is wrong to get paid in ministry. I just believe that we don’t owe God for our service because we owe Him our lives for saving us through His beloved Son.
